Since his childhood Cheikh had a passion for new technologies, especially computer science. His father initiated him to his first programming language through BASIC when he was in the secondary school. He quickly realized that programming was a great way to create apps that could help change the lives of people. He studied Computer Science at INSA Lyon in France where he received an MSc degree in Computer Science, focusing on Networking and Telecommunications from the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) in Lyon, France, in 2003. He also received an MSc degree in Computer Science from INSA, Lyon, France, in 2004. He was then awarded a PhD in Computer Science from INSA, Lyon, France, in 2007.

He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Thies in 2007. He was an Associate Professor at the University of Thies, Senegal, between 2008 and 2016. Since July 2016, he is a Full Professor in Computer Science. Between August 2015 and July 2018, he was the Head of the Science and Technology Faculty at the University of Thies. He is also a member of the Scientific and Pedagogical Council of the Doctoral School ED2DS of the University of Thiès. Since April 2016, he is visiting professor at ‘Institut Universitaire des Sciences et Techniques d’Abéché’ (IUSTA) in Chad and University of Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.

He is also an expert evaluator of the National Quality Assurance Authority for Higher Education (ANAQ-Sup) and CAMES. His research focuses on field applications of Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Wireless Mobile ad hoc Sensor Networks, IPv6 and Security Networks. His works have appeared in revered international journals and presented at conferences.
